Root is a powerful technopath with the constant, passive ability to connect with computers, cell phones, wi-fi networks, surveillance cameras, and any other electronic device or network in her vicinity, and be able to access the information feeds from these devices. With focus, she can access wider networks of devices, and co-opt the processing power of those devices to 'boost' her brain so she can make the raw data she's receiving make sense. Can Root compromise the privacy of your character's personal devices? His communicator is fair game, but any personal electronics he possesses will be personally reinforced by him since he's kind of protective of his data and recharging stations.
Can Root access the processing power of your character's personal devices without compromising your character's privacy? Sure! Root can probably draw power from him for extra processing power if he happens to be inhabiting a device, but he'd register as incomprehensible data no matter what level, since navis are just...put together weirdly.
Though it may be an interesting problem if Root opens a connection to a device he's in because he may see it as a valid data-streaming connection he can travel through. I'll leave that up to you to determine, though.
